5 Easy Ways to Get Super Healthy Eyes

Superhero's Eyes

Superman had lasers coming out of his eyes. We make eyes “super” using lasers.

Since we are both from Cleveland, it only makes sense that LASIK Vision Centers of Cleveland and Superman are both associated with supervision. LASIK can help adjust your vision, but truly having super eyes starts with eye health. We can adjust your vision and help you see better, but there are still issues associated with eye health that can cause irritation and damage your eyes over time. We’re not sure that Superman had to do push-ups to stay in shape, but there is some maintenance involved in having super eyes. So, grab your cape and join us as we take a look at 5 easy ways you can turn your Clark Kent eyes into SUPER eyes!

1. Let the tears flow.
Wait a sec – Superman never cried, did he? Well, you need tears to help fight the eye’s natural kryptonite: contaminants. Tears help flush out debris in the eyes, and that reduces the risk of irritation and infection. So, let the tears flow every now and then. We won’t tell anyone!

2. Grab some shades.
So sunglasses weren’t necessarily Superman’s thing, but they are important for you to have super eyes. Not only do they look cool, but they are also an important piece of eye health. Not just any sunglasses are enough, however. Sunglasses with low UV protection reduce glare and encourage us to open our eyes wider, exposing our eyes to more UV damage. Look for glasses that are back surface coated and polarized from sunrise to sunset.

3. You don’t want to smoke.
Smokers are four times more likely to develop age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. Second-hand smoke also puts you at high risk for these conditions, so it’s not enough to not smoke – you have to stay away from smoke no matter what the source is!

4. Rest up.
Did anyone ever see Superman sleep? Well, just because the Man of Steel didn’t relax much doesn’t mean your eyes can do the same. Adults spend hours looking at digital screens and that can really hurt the eyes. That’s why the 20-20-20 rule is so important. Every 20 minutes take a 20-second break to focus on something 20 feet away. This practice will help reduce eye strain.

5. Diet and exercise.
In addition to developing super strength, good diet and exercise habits can help with blood circulation and reduce hypertension – two factors that contribute to eye disease!

So, there you have it – those are the secrets to super healthy eyes. But, if you want the key to super vision, you’ll need to come see us at LASIK Vision Centers of Cleveland. We can help you see more clearly than ever – without the Clark Kent glasses! Schedule your consultation today and get on track for superhero sight!
